Sheila has worked in the child welfare system for over 30 years. First, as a Social Worker with the Department of Children and Families and, more recently, as an Intensive Service Coordinator for Berkshire Children and Families. She spent a significant portion of her social work career connecting with adolescents involved in the child welfare system, and is well-regarded by services providers and young people alike.
Excited to be joining Friends of Children and being a part of our new program FOCUS: Foster Futures, Sheila understands the importance of helping young people find meaningful connections and develop roots in their communities.
As a DCF Social Worker, Sheila worked with children of all ages and families throughout the child protection system, but her passion lies in working with adolescents and young adults as they transition to adulthood. Sheila’s responsibilities include recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers and youth participants engaged with Friends of Children’s FOCUS: Foster Futures initiative.
